What is Intellectual Property? Intellectual property is any original work by a person. It may be a concept, invention, artwork, music, and etc. It is anything that has moral and commercial values but not a copy of something that already exists. Intellectual Property Rights Intellectual property rights are the protection given to a person's original work or idea. This protection keeps those original creations from any sort of intellectual property violations such as copyright, patent, and trademark infringements, plagiarism, and so much more.

Talent Shows and copyright infringement in the Philippines Rouse | LEXOLOGY      In August 2, 2020, CJ Villavicencio the winner of The Pop Stage, a local online talent show in the Philippines that was operated by a well-known actor Matteo Guidicelli , was accused of copyright infringement for copying musical arrangements of Eraserheads’ songs without permission. The director of AHEB (Ang Huling El Bimbo: The Musical) was the one who accused such violation towards the champion. During the competition, CJ Villavicencio entered a medley of Pare Ko, Alapaap and Huwag Kang Matakot, which are all Eraserheads songs. Jan - Sept 2020 Reports, Complaints on IP Infringement Surpasses 2015-201 9 Total Janina Lim | GOVPH      IPOPHL says the majority of reported intellectual property violators from January to September were operating online. IPOPHL said its office received a total of 139 intellectual property infringement reports for the first nine months of 2020, exceeding the total of 129 reports received between 2015 and 2019. The agency's Intellectual Property Rights Enforcement Office (IEO) is proposing updates to the 2013 Rules and Regulations on Enforcement. Intellectual property rights-related reports, complaints soared in 2020 — IPOPHL Neil Arwin Mercado | INGQUIRER.NET      According to Mercado [2021], in 2020, a numerous amount of intellectual property issues has burst out that was reported to the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines. According to the report of Ann Edillon, the director of IPOPHL, there was about 190 reports regarding intellectual property rights-related complaints received by their office alone, which in record, overwhelms even the total amount of reports accumulated from 2013 to 2019, which was approximately more than 146 only.      According to Edillon, the total amount of reports and complaints was already a combination of the accounts accumulated from the public sector, consumers, concerned citizens, anonymous reports, and property rights owners.
